Don't Mess With The Doppelganger.
Out of luck?
This was perfect, no Damon or Elena, no dramatic days and no one calling or trying to reach him to fix there problems. Just Stefan and Katherine in this beautiful place together and they could do whatever they wanted without someones thoughts or comments. They could just be the amazing couple they were, as his arms wrapped around Katherine he soon felt a soft warmth that came along with what a man in love would feeling holding the woman he loved in his arms and this was truly amazing. No worries, just beautiful sites to see, beautiful beaches to be on and a beautiful girl to share it all with. When she turned to face him, his eyes flicker down to hers and he was almost speechless at how beautiful she truly looked, she was like an angle without wings. It was truthfully blissful and amazing “Well you’re a perfect site to watch” he soon spoke out in return to her words, a soft smile on his lips, one of his hands moving to place itself on the side of her neck, his thumb tracing softly across her bottom lip.
“Someone woke early today” he smiled softly as he watched his thumb trace along her soft lips. He couldn’t help but traces his thumb down her jawline and letting her lips be captured by his planting a passionate embrace upon them and a soft smile creating itself against there kiss. Her lips were amazing, the feel of them against his own was magical and he couldn’t believe that he could be this happy with someone but he could and he was and this weekend he was going to ask her a question that would change both of there lives and he was more then excited to do so.
Katherine smiled as she felt his thumb trace her lips, it was simple gestures like that which made her feel invincible and truly loved. Stefan was always her first choice and despite the things she had done he continued to feel the same way about her, she smiled into the kiss that he so softly planted on her lips. No one could come between them, not this time. Not Elena, not Damon and not any other living (or dead for that matter) soul in the world. She couldnt believe it when after all this time Stefan forgave her for the things she had done and told her that he still loved her. Katherine smiled even brighter “Did you miss me? I thought I should wake up a little early, enjoy the sunshine - Even though Im a vampire I’m still bulgarian and therefore I tan easily” Stefan kissed her once more and then looked at her with some sort of hidden longing, she couldn’t really figure out what that hidden something was but there was definitely something on his mind. Something he couldn’t wait to express to her, she tilted her head to the side before leaning in for another kiss whilst running her fingers through his hair at the nape of his neck and leaning against him slightly. “So we have forever ahead of us, its a lovely day, I’m with you..so what do you have in store.”
Klaus listened to Katherine’s words while his lips remained pursed into a thin line and his eyes followed her every movement. Some of her words stung while the others were nothing more but rubbish in his point of view. Arms crossed on his chest and fingers tapping impatiently against his elbows while the words spoken in a calm unison filled the space between them. Maybe, just maybe, if he was less arrogant, her words would’ve made some sort of an impact, but long gone were times when he indeed listened what others had to say, especially when they talked about him or imagined that they knew him or his ways. She did her research? Maybe. But just how fruitful the research can be when done from the distance; when even his own family didn’t know him that well?
——Pieces. Fragments. Dust.
“Your love, Katerina, is just a state of mind you so helplessly want to achieve, yet what you have is just a belief that you’re holding it tightly in your grip.” Klaus’ expression yet again changed into the one of some some sort of twisted glee. Eyes glistening with merciless cruelty that was laced together with some sort of macabre playfulness. Both knew that he’d won; he’d won the game they started playing all those years ago, he’d won it right about when the fear for her life planted a seed deep deep inside Katherine’s mind. Even if he was to back away, she’d never have a peaceful life because as much as a shadow of him would be enough to leave her terrified once again. “If you claim that we’re so alike, you should know that this love you swore for my foll of a brother is nothing more but a leverage to you. And as soon as that leverage is no more, you’d be gone as a wind.” A faint shrug followed his words and Klaus rolled his eyes in a somewhat playful manner. “Wouldn’t be the very first time, now would it? I believe that Salvatore brothers themselves had a taste of that so-called love of yours.”
Katherine grinned. “Is that so?” She gave a little shrug her arms folded in front of her, Klaus could say all he wanted about what he believed about her he could compare her love with that of others all he wanted too but she knew and Elijah knew that her love was real, of course Elijah had every right to doubt her sometimes as she had created a sea of lies around her throughout the centuries but at the end Klaus’ approval of their relationship didn’t truly matter. Why should he bless it at all in fact? She didn’t even want it - All she wanted was him to get over the events of the past and finish this ridiculous hunt that he had started all of those years ago. In the end he got what he wanted he got his stupid little half breeds and had the power he wanted with the exception of Silas of course. But why was there truly a need for him to continue to haunt her in the ways that he did? Because she had said it before, he expressed himself by rage and fear to keep someone around who feared him and ran from him made him feel powerful, like he was in control. She knew the feeling so well - She too also loved having others live in fear of her, back when she first came to Mystic Falls the previous year when she had decided to tear a hole in Elena Gilbert’s pathetic little life, she had been willing to trade her life for her freedom even then but things changed.
Of course Klaus had to bring up her infamous relationship with the Salvatore brothers, she had in fact loved Stefan and Damon but her love for Elijah was nothing in comparison not to mention she toyed with both brothers like they were pets and nothing more, again it was all about control and games something she had enjoyed. “My business with Stefan and Damon hasn’t anything to do with you but I can assure you that I am not using Elijah as my ticket to freedom. The Salvatores were nothing but a little game of mine after all I had to keep myself entertained whilst moving to and from places. I got to play many parts on the run I think I could become an actress with all the experience that I have had.” She said with a fake smile before taking a daring step towards her nemesis. “You think you know me so well Niklaus, but I do know of your certain little obsession with a certain blonde vampire that resides here - So indulge me, what is it exactly about little miss tool that you adore so much? Is she a game? Is she a leverage of some kind? I can see when a man is smitten and it’s pretty obvious that you are. If you can love then there’s hope for me yet. Seeing as we are so alike when it comes to love.” She replied with a hint of sarcasm mocking his little assumption. “I’d walk the earth with Elijah forever, but you have never wanted him to be happy because all you care about is yourself. What you want is what Elijah has to want. You call the shots and there’s nothing he can do about it. Sad isn’t it. But you love the control.”
Asking if he cared about Caroline was something foreign to Damon “let’s just say she’s not on the top of my favorites list” he mutters. Deep down Damon actually admired Caroline knowing that if he had met the woman she was now instead of the spoiled brat he encountered on his return he must likely wouldn’t have taken advantage of her the way he had here she was Cheerleader turned Vampire and instead of mope and play the feel sorry for me card she became kick ass….she’s actually quite the asset to the team he thinks to himself but never revealing his inner thoughts as he gives a careless shrug of his shoulders “but I’d give two shits if she were to die” he finishes off. His gaze narrowed at her at her completely wrong accusation “puh-lease” he drawls out shaking his head “you, me and date don’t even fit in the same sentence I was just being nice considering you’re now a defenseless human” raising his hands up “but consider me taking back my offer.” Piercing baby blues do a quick sweep around the empty corridors and he finds himself slightly surprised no activity is going on aren’t they suppose to have some up all night congrats you idiots graduated party he thinks to himself before flicking his attention back to Katherine. Be that as it may with her human Damon actually felt a sense of wanting to protect her knowing full well she had never wanted this and now that she was being punished he couldn’t think of anything worse to happen with the sultry vixen she doesn’t want or need your help….her pride will be the death of her why should I care I should be off with Elena he thinks to himself eyeing her for a moment before raising his hands up in surrender “have a nice human life Katherine….bye now” he dryly states before turning on his heels and making his way down the hallway towards the exit.
A hint of a smile pulled at the curve of her lips, she could see right through Damon the way he spoke about Caroline. She knew of their history when he first came back to Mystic Falls she had watched him behind glass by using others to be her eyes and ears. She had seen Damon countless times in the past do anything to get one step closer to her not caring about the consequences that lay before him and she found it somewhat flattering. But Damon wasn’t the brother who’s affections she craved more than anything. And at the time she knew that she had him twisted around her finger even when in his mind she was dessicating in the tomb that lay under the church. It was a relief that she still held her memories of the things she had done throughout her time as a vampire, as weak as she felt she knew that she would have to adjust to human needs to be able to strengthen herself and once she did she would find a way to become a vampire once more.
Her little joke about Damon’s offer was taken badly just like she expected, Damon always responded to her comments with snark and amusement in his tone which in a lot of ways she enjoyed. Despite her teasing previously the fact that Damon had got the girl only made her even more angry than before yet she didn’t have the strength to show it as it proved once again that her doppelganger had something else that she didn’t. In her case her missing ingredient was Elijah. After he decided that Klaus’ situation was more important than her she realized that there was no point in her even considering change anymore because she had no one to even consider happiness with. Instead she thought it was easier to fall back down the path she had tread for years, it was easier to be hated, for people to un attach themselves from her. If they loved her things would be more difficult to tear away from and Damon and Stefan were both results from that in some form.
Have a nice human life, Katherine - Such a simple line but one that sounded so familiar to her, she stood up straight and stared at his features before he turned on his heal and made his way down the darkened corridor. She was weak, disorientated and quite frankly lost - She didn’t have the advantage of eternity or the power that she had solely depended on throughout the years. Knowing that she would have to swallow her pride and take the help provided was something she hated to admit to herself. Katherine gritted her teeth as she looked across the hall, she slammed her fist against the locker behind her and flinched slightly as she felt a small scrape - She brought her hand towards her and stared at the smallest cut on the side of her hand, she half expected it to heal - But it never came instead she traced a finger over the trace of red and let out a sigh before looking up at Damon who was almost at the end of the hallway. Katherine used what strength she had left and pushed herself to walk down after him. “Damon. Wait.” When she was in arms length she pressed her lips together finding it embarrassing that she was having to ask for help from someone who would especially never forget it - Wouldn’t let her forget it. “I suppose I could use a ride - I cant stay here, I can barely stand without needing to lean against something. I always knew humans were weak but this is ridiculous - Remind me If I ever meet this special witch who cooked up the cure to tell her she should of left a note or warning of some sort about the after effects, Because quite frankly I have never felt so terrible in my life.” She forced a smile that wasn’t filled with any amount of amusement but it wasn’t aimed at Damon but at the existence and annoyance of the witches for their powers.
“How are you, sweetness? How are ya?” Elena murmured with affection, chuckling under her breath when the gesture was returned in spades. The cat with snow white fur couldn’t have been a stray; no… he, or she, had to have been own previously by a caring and attentive owner. Elena loved all species of animal and enjoyed taking care of them, especially ones in need of love and care. “Ya know I should take you home with me to call and figure out who your owner is… but before I do, would you like to have some meat from my burger? I know you’d love it. I bet you’ve been famished for some time now.”
Katherine miaowed and continued to snake in-between her doppelgangers legs before standing up on her hind legs with her front paws resting against her knee - Her ears stood up and her whiskers started to twitch. She thought that taking a bit of the lettuce on offer would of sealed the deal but it looked like she would have to fattened up some more in order to be taken home by the young girl. As annoying as it was she decided to play along and stared at the revolting food in front of her as if she hadn’t eaten in years. Another miao escaped her tiny pink lips and she made sure that her eyes were as wide as she could manage.
Elena sat outside of the Mystic Grill, consuming a simple veggie sandwich she’d ordered. It’d been a long day. Stefan was nowhere to be found, and Damon was the last individual Elena desired to see. Caroline and Bonnie had their own drama to deal with and Elena elected to stay separate from their issue. A nice afternoon along was ideal and not altogether terrible. With a cheery smile, she tore into the sandwich pleasantly and paused to savor it’s flavor as well as the texture. Suddenly, a tiny miao caught Elena’s attention making Elena tear away from the meal to lock eyes with an elegant kitten.
“Hey there.” Elena cooed, holding out a piece of lettuce from her sandwich. “Hey there cutie. Are ya hungry?”
Katherine had finally walked into some kind of civilization only to be greeted with a sight that almost made her smile. Well if she could at least. The first person that took any notice of her was that of her doppelganger, this was the first time that she had laid eyes on her - It was strange to think it was possible but of course it was she had known of the existence of her doppelganger for a few years, to be taken in by her of all people would be the perfect situation for her to gather her information. Katherine then let out a miao to gain the girls attention, just like she thought she instantly fell for her appearance. She approached her cautiously and took the bit of food from out of her hand and gently ate it before edging herself a little closer and rubbed herself against her legs - As strange as this was she knew she had to do it to get any chance of being taken in by her.
